It sure wasn’t pretty, but the Indianapolis Colts got the job done against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Down 21-0 in the 2nd quarter, it was looking like a possible Ohio sweep of the Colts from the Browns and Bengals. Additionally, Philip Rivers already took a beating last week from fans and media alike following his two interception and zero touchdown game at Cleveland.

That’s when they turned the ship around.

In a three quarter stretch, Rivers played possibly his best game as a Colt so far and rallied back to beat Joe Burrow’s crew. Rivers ended the day going 29/44 with 371 passing yards and three touchdowns. He tossed one interception, but was able to get over it quickly.

Even with a 4-2 record, there are still some issues that need to be cleaned up. On The Dan Dakich Show Monday, DD welcomed former Colt and co-host of The Fan Morning Show, Big Joe Staysniak to discuss what he thinks Frank Reich and company need to focus on following this week’s win.

“Number one is how in the hell are you going to rush a football,” Big Joe said. “The Colts stated philosophy is that you are going to run the football. You are 26th in the league at running and 31st in yards-per-attempt. That’s not going to get it done. They are being way too cute.”

Since Marlon Mack tore his achilles in Week 2, the Colts rushing game has not been the same. Much of the responsibility has fallen in the hands of rookie Jonathan Taylor, but the rush is not where it needs to be. Typically, that has been why Rivers has struggled. But the seasoned vet put the offense on his shoulders to lead the comeback.

“I don’t know how good the Colts are gonna be,” Big Joe added. “But for three quarters Rivers was as good a quarterback that you’re gonna see. The way he had them in the right plays, or putting the ball perfectly when he needed to, I was really impressed with him being able to bounce back.”

Indianapolis will enjoy some time off with a bye this Sunday. They’ll be back and ready to go on the road in Detroit as the calendar turns to November in Week 8.
