One of the NFL Draft’s biggest night one stunners was the Green Bay Packers’ selection of Utah State quarterback Jordan Love at pick 26, after trading up four spots from 30th overall with Miami. The Dolphins also received a 4th round selection from Green Bay in the transaction.

There have been rumors for a while now surrounding the potential for Colts GM Chris Ballard moving back up into the first round to grab Love. As the QB continued to drop, Colts fans remained glued to their TV screens.

Then the Packers ended Indy’s night early with a move that won’t sit well with most of the Green Bay faithful.

Kevin Bowen joined The Fan Morning Show with Jeff & Big Joe to discuss what could’ve been if Indy had elected to pursue Love:

“I don’t think the Colts would’ve had to have given up much more than a third round pick [in addition to 34 for Love],” Bowen said.

“I think some fans certainly would’ve liked to have seen the Colts try to move back into the first round and try to get their quarterback of the future.”

Jeff Rickard mentioned that consistency and the competition level Love faced in college could’ve contributed to his fall down the draft board. Bowen stressed that if Ballard was really sold on the quarterback prospect, he would’ve made the move. The Colts chose to pursue other options.

“I just think when it came down to it, there was interest from the Colts, but not enough to even part ways with a little bit of your draft capital here in 2020.”

With two of the first 12 selections in the second round, expect the Colts to be busy from the get-go later this evening.
