Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard joins DD to talk about last night’s draft pick and what he saw in making that pick. Pritchard also talks to DD about how he sees the rotation working out with having three centers this upcoming season and the holes that the Pacers have to fill with free agency.
On why Pacers took Bitadze:
“At the end of the day when you’re in the draft you have to take the best talent. I know a lot of people are saying, how does that fit? But I believe that Domas and Myles can play and start together. So, if that’s the case then were going to need a backup center. Goga at 19 was the best shot blocker in his league and shot 41{42836eb61b4ca4ddd9ec45ae386c9311b687b2127b5746fc216d4c5f0c3c98e3} and I feel that is very translatable.”
On Aaron Holiday being a starter:
“To be determined, I don’t know who’s it. We can’t have conversation until July 1 with some of these other point guards. What you have to understand is that we talk about 40 million being a lot cap space, which it is, but not when 32 million is a max contract. So, what’s on my mind at all times is, do i go for a solid good team. Pay the starters some appropiate money including Bojan and then try and hit it out the park with your draft picks. Get a good team without eating up all your cap space.”
