Pacers expert Scott Agness joins The Fan Morning Show to discuss Pacers off season. Scott Agness talks to Jeff and Big Joe about how he feels the Pacers should go about assembling their roster for this season. Scott also discusses how the Pacers will be held back if they swing for the fences to get a max value player.

“How do we go about assembling the rest of this Pacers roster?”

“It’s obviously going to have to be through free agency this summer which is very much a change then what we are used to seeing with roster construction. Your general managers and presidents preach it’s through the draft and then give it time. Kevin Pritchard is very much focused on building this years’ team through free agency which does seem a little bit odd. What they are going for is going to be your value picks.”

“How much does getting a max value type player handicap the rest of what the Pacers are able to do?”

“So Jeff that would completely handicap them now after that trade because they roughly have one max contract spot available. If you include Goga the first round pick, that would be eight total players on roster. So you’d really have to go deep into your pockets to actually fill out a roster. That’s another reason why you shouldn’t expect the Pacers to even target a player with a max value contract.”
