Friend of the show and former Pacer, Scot Pollard joins the show to talk with Big Joe and Kevin Bowen who is filling in for Jeff Rickard to give his early insight look on what he believes the NBA will look like next year and what he has seen so far.  He talks about the Pacers Summer League struggles and what teams he believe will truly make an impact next season.

Are there reasons to be concerned with the Indiana Pacers’ summer league team struggling early on?

“Well, you’re talking a guy that only played in one Summer League in my career and it was before my rookie year and there was only one other guy that I played with in the Summer League that actually made the roster.  I know things have changed in twenty years that more guys that play in summer leagues will be on the roster but keep in mind, most of those guys won’t.  Now, this roster of the Pacers regular roster isn’t full.  They’ve had a bunch of free agents and made some moves but I would say that their roster is far from set.  On the one hand, your points are absolutely valid, this is the time of the year when they should be showing improvement when their competition level isn’t the NBA.  These are guys that probably won’t be in the NBA, for the most part.  It’s kind of like college games, where you think you have time to experience a college season where you’re not going to play the best of your position every single night.  So in Summer League, you should see signs of guys dominating on certain nights and if they’re not then that does show problems.  On the other hand, are we worried about guys that are actually going to be on the Pacers roster this fall?  That part we don’t know, even if the Pacers sign them to a short contract or even a one year contract.  Sometimes it seems like they could’ve made a move and ship this guy somewhere else and get some talent as part of a package.  Which is what the Pacers need to be freaking doing.  And get some talent on this roster.  Yay chemistry, chemistry will get you to the playoffs and get a first-round exit.  Is that we want Pacers fans, forever and ever?  I want to see this team get better and make some moves and get some trades going.  Get some free agents and maybe drug him if you have to.  I’m tired of guys just getting along in the locker room, yay.  I wanna team that wins in the Eastern Conference Finals.”
