Chiefs Fatigue: Save Us, Buffalo

I’m a simple man. I don’t ask for much in life. I want my beer cold, my wife and children to be happy and healthy and to occasionally find five bucks on the ground outside of Kroger. But for the love of all things good and pure, I need the Buffalo Bills to win on Sunday more than anything against the Kansas City Chiefs.
I can’t take it anymore. Listen, I like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid. A lot actually. Moreso, that most people who are not Chiefs fans. But I am sick of seeing them in the AFC Championship and in the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t known a season where he didn’t get to at least the AFC Championship Game. That’s sick! That’s disgusting! Seven straight seasons in the AFC title game? That shouldn’t happen. It should be illegal. The man needs to feel some sort of a letdown at some point.
The Buffalo Bills are a franchise starved for another trip to the Super Bowl. The fan base deserves it. Chiefs fans have been riding the highest high for almost a decade now and it’s time for someone else to have a turn. The Chiefs are the most pedestrian 15-2 team I’ve ever seen. Nothing they did all season was any sort of impressive except how they fell into wins when other teams would stumble and fall. They only scored 30 points twice all season and Mahomes and Kelce were as ordinary as they’ve ever been.
Maybe the Chiefs are inevitable. They can be this vanilla looking and yet still be a win away from another Super Bowl berth. I, like I think the majority of people not residing in and around the Kansas City area, are pulling for Josh Allen to continue this MVP-caliber season with a win at Arrowhead on Sunday night. It’s a high-pressure situation as is, but when you have 98% of the country pulling for you to slay the dragon that adds even more weight to his shoulders.
I’m sure I will be cursing aloud on Sunday night as my hopes get shattered into a million pieces as Jackson Mahomes is running around at mid-field while streaming live on TikTok but for Christ’s sake, please give us a Chiefs break.
I need it.
America needs it.
