BLOOMINGTON, Ind.–The Indiana Hoosiers improved to 7-2 on the year with a win over the Miami Ohio RedHawks at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Friday night 76-57.

Indiana led by as many as 12 in the first half, but the Red Hawks stormed back to cut it to 3 at the half where Indiana led 39-36. Miami shot 44% from three point range in the first half to stay in the game while Indiana turned it over nine times. They ended up with 16 turnovers for the game.

In the second half, Miami had cut the lead to five on several occasions, but after a made free throw by Oumar Ballo to push the lead to six for Indiana, Malik Reneau got a dunk off a Miami turnover and that made Indiana’s lead 58-50. That was the beginning of a 12-0 run that pushed Indiana’s lead to 67-50 with roughly five minutes to go.

The Hoosiers held Miami Ohio to 21 points in the second half. They had four players finish in double figures. Ballo scored 14 points and 18 rebounds. Reneau scored 19 points to lead the way, Myles Rice scored 17, and Culver graduate Trey Galloway came up with 13 points and made 3 three-pointers.

Luke Skaljac had 14 points to lead the way for the RedHawks. Carmel graduate Peter Suder came with 9 points for Miami Ohio.

The RedHawks play the Bethany Bison next. The Hoosiers next game is against the Minnesota Golden Gophers to open up Big Ten play on Monday at 6:30 pm. Pregame coverage starts at 5:30 pm on 93.1 WIBC.
